Kerry is an ideal spot for a cycling holiday whether it's just to hire a bicycle for a day or to take part in the world famous Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle that takes place each year in July.
Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle
This very worthwhile cycle covers 112 miles of the Ring of Kerry road in one day in July every year. The starting point being Killarney. The cycle is limited to 9,000 cyclists each year for safety reasons. Avoid dispointment by registering online as early as possible on http://www.ringofkerrycycle.ie/
If you would like to take a more relaxed approach to getting around Kerry by bike then you can hire a bicycle in Killarney and most of the towns on the Ring.
Here are some easy cycle routes, we plan to add more to this list very soon.
Killarney National Park - Killarney to Muckross
From the centre of Killarney there is a cycle path out the Muckross Road for about three km. The path then turns in toward the lakes and takes various loops around Muckross House and the lakes. Possibly at over 20km of loops.
Killarney National Park - The Fossa Way
From the entrance to the National Park opposite Killarney Cathedral there is a path running within the park but parallel to the Killorglin road towards the village of Fossa. This is a lovely route passing the Killarney Golf & Fishing Club. A new pathway along the Deenagh River, meets up with the Fossa Way and offers an alternative route back to Killarney.
